Physical Demands:

 

1 – No physical demands other than walking and stairs.
2 – Easy physical activities suitable for most fitness levels.
3 – Moderate hiking and other activities that require an average level of fitness to enjoy
4 – Up to 8 hours of hiking or other activities that require a good level of fitness
5 – High Altitude or steep grade hiking suitable for those with a high level of fitness and endurance

 

Comfort:

 

1 – Camping on the ground or sleeping on the floor
2 – Basic accommodations with shared bathrooms
3 – 3 star hotel or equivalent
4 – 4 star hotel or equivalent
5 – 5 star hotel or resort

 

Culture Shock:

 

1 – English is the native language.  Food, customs and services will be familiar.
2 – English is commonly spoken.  There will be some differences in food, customs and services.
3 – English is not commonly spoken.  Many foods will be different.  Poverty is evident.  Access to services may be sporadic.  Respecting the local customs will make the experience more fulfilling.
4 – English is rarely spoken.  Local standard of living is much lower.  Food may be very different from what you are use to.  Poverty and filthy conditions are very common.  Access to services is routinely interrupted.  Local customs should be respected to not cause offense.
5 – It will be very difficult to find an English speaker. Local standard of living is shocking.  Special attention to health and hygiene is required.  There is little or no access to services.  It is essential to respect local customs.
